LA FAMIGLIA MONTECCHI

La famiglia Montecchi ha origine. a Verona (chi non conosce la storia di Giulietta Capuleti e Romeo Montecchi resa famosa da Sakespeare) e parte del casato si trasferì a Firenze nell'11 secolo. villa Montecchi tuttavia ha origini ancora più antiche, infatti nasce intorno al decimo secolo come Casa Torre da persone di cui si è persa la memoria.

MONTECCHI FAMILY

Montecchi family is originally from Verona (who do not know about Sakespeare tragedy of Giuliet Capuleti ad Romeo Montecchi) and then part of the family moved to Florence in late 11th century. Villa Montecchi however was built around 10th-11th century as "Casa torre" (house tower), much common in those time, from unkown people.

LA FAMIGLIA PORTINARI

La famiglia Portinari prende possesso della proprietà nel tredicesimo secolo. Essi facevano parte della nobiltà Fiorentina, in particolare il capostipite della famiglia Folco Portinari divenne famoso per aver sovvenzionato la costruzione del primo ospedale a Firenze (Santissima Annunziata). Il nome del casato tuttavia passò alla storia perché il famoso poeta Dante Alighieri nel suo poema "La Divina Commedia" (dove descrive in versi il suo immaginario viaggio nell'Inferno, Purgatorio e Paradiso), si fa guidare nel suo viaggio in Paradiso da Beatrice Portinari figlia di Folco. Da lei la villa viene oggi ricordata come La Casa di Beatrice

PORTINARI FAMILY

Portinari family took over the property in 13th century. They were part of the nobility of Florence. Folco Portinare the head master of the family become famous in the centuries to come as the promoter and financial supporter of first Hospital in Florence (Santissima Annunziata). They become famous thru the century also thanks to Dante Alighieri that in his poem "La Divina Commedia" (a poem that describe in verse the Hell, Purgatory and Heaven) took Beatrice Portinari as his guide thru the Heaven. For that reason Villa Montecchi is also called as "Casa di Beatrice".

DESCRIZIONE / FEATURES

La proprietà consiste in una porzione della Villa Montecchi sviluppata in due livelli. Nel piano inferiore una rampa di scale vi porterà in una grande terrazza esposta a Sud con tre grandi archi a volta. Da li si accede direttamente nell'ampio salotto con il caminetto ed il soffitto originale finemente restaurato. Nella restante parte del piano si trovano il tinello, la sala da pranzo , la cucina con una superba vista sui vigneti e sul Santuario di Madonna del Sasso, ed un bagno che funge anche da lavanderia. Nel piano superiore si trovano tre camere e due bagni tutti finemente restaurati in encausto.

The property consist in a portion of the main villa developed on two level. On the lower floor a quick flight of stairs bring you in wide terrace with three large arches. From there is the entrance that get directly to the living room with an open fire and original ceiling restored by master craftsman. On the same level there is a dining room, a dinette and a kitchen with a great view form the window to vineyards and the Sanctuary of Madonna del Sasso. On the upper floor ther are 3 rooms with 2 bathroom superbly restore in encaustic.
